THE
NEW YORKER, April 2, 2003
"EXTRA" The Swiss Institute's group show gathers what appears
to be a motley sitcom set on a modish but jerry-built spaceship.
Michelin man with Afro? Check. The Village People sculpted
in gold-and-white papier-mâché? Check. Tattooed, taxidermied
pig? Robotic dogs? All present and accounted for. Amidst the
goofy glam you'll also find an unplugged fan and a pair of
paint-stained shoes. Swiss artists predominate, of course,
with the art stars Roman Signer, Sylvie Fleury, and the duo
of Peter Fischli and David Weiss joined by others less well
known here. Through April 26. (495 Broadway. 212-925-2035.)
