Screening | Jean-Luc persécuté, Directed by Claude Goretta, 1965
Weds | 7pm
On the occasion of Work Hard, please join us for a screening of Claude Goretta’s 1965 film, Jean-Luc persécuté, selected by Valentin Carron. According to Art in America, this exhibition “expands on his idiosyncratic vision with an eclectic selection of off-modern works.” Extending the range of his curatorial debut, the screening of this film grants further insight into Carron’s perspective and influences.
Produced in 1965 in the region of Evolène, Jean-Luc persécuté is part of a series of six adaptations of the works of Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz created for television. In this film, Claude Goretta focuses on the character of Jean-Luc, a peasant deceived by his wife, whose daily existence of stubborn silence, solitude and suffering gradually spirals into madness.
