A show of Georg Gatsas’s downtown photography at the Swiss Institute
Photographer Georg Gatsas goes behind the scenes where downtown New York lives. In a new show at the Swiss Institute, Gatsas shares recent photographs of artists and rockers at their most candid. Amidst the late nights and endless parties, Gatsas has captured downtown icons in rare, up-close, solo shots. He’s documenting a scene and quietly becoming a part of it. He’s also generous enough to open up his show to those who’ve helped make his portraits happen. In the back room gallery space, catch new work by artists Lizzi Bougatsos, Brian DeGraw, Ira Cohen, and Kembra Phaler, among others.
