Book Launch and Screening | At the Back of the North Wind: Anton Ginzburg and Gianni Jetzer

Tue Feb 12 2013, 6:30—8:00pm

Swiss Institute is pleased to launch Anton Ginzburg’s At the Back of the North Wind published by Hatje Cantz with texts by Matthew Drutt, Anton Ginzburg, Boris Groys, and Jeffrey Kastner, designed by Project Projects. To mark the occasion of the book, we will screen Hyperborea (2011), a film by the artist.

Hyperborea is the mythical region first described by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus as the land of the Golden Age, a place thought to exist in a state of pure bliss and eternal springtime despite its supposed location in the extreme North. Anton Ginzburg leads the viewer through a progression of events in a visual odyssey. Beginning in the Northwest of the United States, continuing to St. Petersburg and the White Sea, this trip concluded in Italy in the form of the exhibition in the official program of 54th Venice Biennial.

At 7PM SI Director Gianni Jetzer will present a Q&A with the artist.
