Lecture | Eating at the Clay Banks by Tiffany Lethabo King
Wed Apr 1 2026, 7:00pm
Initiated in November 2022, These Seasons is an ongoing transdisciplinary public program that invites artists, scholars and writers to SI to explore theories of nature, landscape, ecology, human and non-human life forms, and climate action. The series of gatherings shift with the city’s changing seasons. Entirely variable depending on one’s planetary location, intensifying or diminishing due to escalating temperatures and other extreme weathers, seasons in their current conception, which date back to 46 BCE, are increasingly unstable markers of Earth’s revolutions. But seasons are, and have always been, much more than that; they are markers of mood, aesthetics, politics and social rituals. These Seasons ventures to approach the titular concept as a lens to explore such planetary horizons. Together, the programs will accumulate in an experimental pedagogy that generates as many questions as it does answers.
