Alan Schmalz (b. 1987 in Geneva, Switzerland. Lives and works in Marseilles) works across painting, drawing, video, performance, sculpture and installation. He has exhibited his work at Sentiment, Zurich; Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva; Centre d’art Neuchâtel; The Box, Los Angeles; Truth & Consequences, Geneva; SALTS, Basel; New Jerseyy, Basel; Forde, Geneva; La Rada, Locarno. In addition to SI, Schmalz has had residencies at Astérides, Marseille and Cité internationale des arts, Paris. In 2017 and 2019, he received the Prix Kiefer Hablitzel and Prix Hirzel, respectively.
