Swiss Institute Annual Architecture and Design Series | Inaugural Edition: Fin de Siècle
Wed Sep 17—Sun Nov 23 2014
Tue Sep 23 2014, 7:00pm
If designers working in the 60s reduced furniture to just a mass of air and a thin layer of plastic, today Airbnb has transformed those pre-internet dreams of nomadism into accessible commodities. “Everything that is solid melts into airbnb” will explore the air in Airbnb. Taking inflatable furniture as a starting point, the discussion will address the evolution of mobility and domesticity from the nomadic utopias of the 60s to the transformations of the home enabled by internet and the sharing economy.
